FileFox Privacy Policy

The short version
FileFox collects no data. None. Everything FileFox does happens entirely on your Mac.
What FileFox does with your files
- FileFox indexes only the folders you explicitly choose.
- The search index (file names, extracted text, and AI embeddings) is stored locally on your Mac, readable only by your user account, and excluded from Time Machine backups.
- OCR and semantic AI run on-device using Apple's built-in frameworks. No file, search query, or any derivative of them is ever transmitted anywhere.
What FileFox sends over the network
Nothing. FileFox contains no networking code, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, and no account system.
Removing your data
Remove a folder from FileFox (or delete the app and its container) and its index data is gone. The index lives in ~/Library/Application Support/FileFox (or the app container for the App Store version).
